Why campaign yard signs matter (and what they can't do)
A plain-spoken look at what lawn signs do for a campaign, backed by real field experiments.
Read guide · 7 minName recognition starts at the curb. We help first-time candidates and seasoned campaign managers plan the right mix of yard signs, corner signs and banners, and get them delivered before early voting starts.
MySignPal is nonpartisan. We quote campaign signs for candidates of every party, for school board and city council races through statewide contests, and for ballot questions on either side.
Signs won't win a race on their own, but they're not nothing. A widely cited set of four randomized field experiments found that lawn signs raised the advertised candidate's vote share by a bit more than one percentage point on average. In a close local race, that matters. Our guide on why campaign signs matter covers the research and how to put signs where they'll do the most good.
The 18" × 24" standard for homes and businesses that back you.
Bigger 24" × 36" and 4' × 8' signs for high-traffic intersections, with permission.
Vinyl banners for HQ, rallies, parade floats and debate nights.
Vote yes / vote no signs for referendums, bonds and ballot questions.
Handheld and directional signs for meet-and-greets and canvass launches.
Signs get damaged and go missing. Plan a refill run before the final stretch.

Federal candidates generally do under FEC rules, and many states and localities have their own disclaimer requirements. Confirm the exact wording and size with your state election commission; we'll make sure the layout has room for it.
It depends on your district size, supporter list and budget. Many campaigns order an initial batch for committed supporters and key corners, then reorder once requests come in. Our size guide walks through the math.
